No-No McCullagh: "The machines were already in production when I went to RB, but I was involved in a small way with adapting the m/cs to cope with the heat of the oil fields fires. The booms were extended by 2m to 22m so the driver was a bit further from the heat. The booms were insulated to protect the hydraulics using the tile material as used on the space shuttle for re-entry. I was more involved with the design of the hydraulics on the updated version & the new larger m/c."
